RACE 3 – 26th July 2017

Cooler, drier and much less humid conditions clearly helped as Carwyn Jones, Cardiff AAC,  led the field home in a 2017 Series-fastest time of 15:15. Les Croupiers’ Oliver Williams came in second at 15:46, a big improvement over his June performance, just ahead of Sam Lloyd-Perks of Wolves and Biston.

Clara Evans, Cardiff AAC, rounded off her steadily-improved Series in style with a 17:15. Other notables: Lee Aherne in the M50 category (Parc Bryn Bach) came in 11th with a 16:36, and Sam Curwen, fastest junior, in 20th place with 17:37.

The 156-strong field was notable for the number of runners who had come to the Series for the first time. We hope to see all of you for all three races next season. Many thanks to all racers for their support. Please look our for news of the 2018 Series shortly after Christmas.

RACE 2 – 21st June 2017

Record temperatures clearly affected the runners in the second race of the 2017 Series with only two entrants breaking the sixteen-minute mark. Abed Twelderrhan (Newport Harriers) edged James Hunt (Cardiff AAC) by 5 seconds reversing his defeat by a similar margin in the first race. One win apiece, Hunt and Twelderrhan have set up the third race as a Cardiff-Newport decider.

Fastest junior this time round was Rhys Hardman of Bridgend AC in 28th place with a time of 19:19 – impressive pace on a night when fewer than 40 entrants managed sub-20 minute times.

Clara Evans of Cardiff AAC came in 13th in 17:27

RACE 1 – 24th May 2017

The opening race of the 2017 Series ran in warmish and humid but dry conditions with just over 200 entrants on the night. The delayed start to the race (brought about by preparations for the Champions League Final) probably helped bring the temperature down a little but there was no doubt several runners found the conditions oppressive.

Cardiff AAC’s James Hunt brought the field home in a time of 15:20 holding off Abed Tewelderrhan (Newport) by four seconds.

Fastest Junior was Lloyd Sheppard of Rhymney Valley with a very respectable 16:57 placing him 16th on the night.

Caryl Jones of Swansea Harriers came in 18th with  a time of 17:03
